Moonlight the coming-of-age tale that follows a young man growing up in Miami, finally earned a statuette:  Best Picture at the 74th Annual Golden Globe awards.

The coming-of-age drama “Moonlight” won the Golden Globe for best drama. It tells the story of a gay African-American boy growing up in the impoverished Liberty City neighborhood of Miami.

Moonlight took home the Golden Globe for best motion picture, drama, on Sunday night.

The film beat out Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Lion and Manchester by the Sea to win the award.

Moonlight commercial and critical success was one of the cracks in the wall that allowed light to shine into this sometimes pitch-dark place.

Congratulation to director Barry Jenkins for a remarkable film.
